Several communities have been started by various ex members of debate.

Some have even been started by the actual members of debate who wanted a more formal meeting area.

None are still very active. People eventually get bored there, or are chased out by the maintainer's overpolicing of the comments. I myself have been banned and readded to top_debater more times than I can count, one time for simply pointing out that if I had said what another member had said(a rather hatefull insult) I would have been banned. (It should also be noted, that the maintainer of said community, still goes back to debate even though they hate it and are banned, using another account for the simple purpose of posting trollish debates...)

So, I guess what I am getting at...

For debate, how long will this community last? Will it wind up more popular as the original, or will it suffer the same fate as all the others?

Obviously, I can't answer that. I really don't know what the fate of this community will be, but if we just have 10 great members, that's perfectly fine with me.

I was going to post this same debate. I've seen so many disgruntled debators make new communities. But that doesn't necessarily mean this one'll fail, and if nothing else it might be fun while it lasts.
